Student Exchange

Student Exchange Opportunities

Geraldton Grammar School has national and international student exchange options. The reciprocal exchange opportunities are for year 8 students through our national Round Square partner schools and are 2 weeks in length. Our students can elect to exchange with any Australian school, although particular partnerships are with Scotch Oakburn in Tasmania, MLC Sydney and Ballarat Grammar School in Victoria. There are also other opportunities for national and international experiences through Round Square.

There are 2 international opportunities for student exchanges.

1. Students who have completed year 12 have the opportunity to apply for the Rotary Youth Exchange - http://www.ryea.org.au/apply-today.html. This process is organised externally through our local Rotary Clubs (Rotary Club of Geraldton, the Rotary Club of Batavia Coast and the Rotary Club of Geraldton-Greenough) and the school has strong partnerships with each of these clubs.

2. Senior and graduating students also have the opportunity for international exchange through the AFS Intercultural exchange program - https://afs.org.au/study-abroad/. In our student exchange programs, students attend classes, learn more about the language and life in each other’s nations, and contribute to better understanding between our two countries. In addition, exchange students participate in a number of excursions and unique cultural experiences, as well as receiving some intensive language lessons.

Each year, Geraldton Grammar School hosts Rotary and AFS students from all over the world, including exchanges with students from our sister school in China.
